This box is the second one, which includes the works of the maestro for the period 1979-1983 (the first box refers to the period 1975-1978). The presented material includes only original albums without any bonuses - according to Rhino. Of particular interest is the excellent live album of 1979, and the studio albums are also quite good (although, perhaps, slightly inferior to the works of 1975-1978: a little less drive and energy). Nevertheless, all these albums deservedly got into the top five jazz albums of Billboard. Jean-Luc is accompanied on these albums by musicians of the first magnitude: virtuoso bassist Ralph Armstrong, keyboardist Alan Zavod, George Duke, Alan Holdsworth, Daryl Stuermer and many others. This is truly the golden fund of electric fusion, the unfading classics of the genre
